My Favorite Wellness FREE Apps

We use our  smartphones all the time these days. So why not use them to increase our physical and mental wellness? I am sharing with you my favorite apps that I can’t do without. The best part is that they are all free! (if you don’t mind putting up with a few ads)

1.- Water Time Pro

You can set your daily goal and this app will give you reminders during the day. Quite easy to use. You can also enter your weight and sex to calculate an optimal amount of water. So drink water, it’s good for you!

2.- Elevate

This brain training app will test you to determine your level of skill in different areas like reading, math, information processing, etc . and you can focus on what you need to improve. It will give you 3 daily challenges that you need to complete, which only take a few minutes.

3.- Prana Breath

This app has different types of breath training such as: relax, clear mind, calming, anti-stress and more. It’s super easy to use and you can also set reminders.

4.- Organic facts

This app offers natural options like herbs, foods, essential oils according to specific medical conditions. Useful if you are sick or have a condition and you need to know what you can include in your diet and lifestyle.

5.- Vegan Recipes Free

This app is great if you would like to reduce your intake of animal products and get good recipes. Or if you are a vegan and want some inspiration.

6.- Sleep sounds

Do you live in a noisy area? Do you have a partner who snores? This app can help you play different sounds to sleep better everyday. Give it a try if you have tried everything else!

Develop Emotional Intelligence to Eliminate Bad Habits

We all have a bad or a few bad habits here and there. Some affect our lives greatly while others not so much. Some people might be into drinking too much soda, others smoke, drink, shop or watch TV too much, gamble, procrastinate, arrive late for appointments, etc.

All our habits are stored in the subconscious mind and become automatic over time. The role of the subconscious mind is to memorize these actions to help us do them automatically and without having to think how to move or do each action, like in the case of riding a bicycle or driving a car. This can be a great advantage or disadvantage depending on the case. Every time we do the habit we are reinforcing it and it becomes even more deeply rooted, take the case of someone who’s been smoking cigarettes for 5 years vs someone who’s been smoking for 30 years. But not only our behaviors become automatic, but also our thoughts. This is why it’s obviously better to have positive thoughts than negative ones.

Hypnosis can help change all of those negative habits, behaviors and thoughts and replace them with information that will be more useful to achieve one’s goals. At the same time, it’s important to increase self-esteem, confidence, motivation, optimism, and develop a healthier, more balanced life. During the process, it’s important to find the cause of the problem, eliminate negative feelings and thoughts, false or erroneous beliefs and to teach the person how to manage their emotions in much healthier and constructive ways. In many cases, past experiences that haven’t fully healed can continue to affect our physical, mental and emotional well-being in the present. Many of these negative habits are driven by emotions such as stress, anxiety, anger, sadness, low self-esteem, guilt, boredom, loneliness, depression, etc.

The Upside of Mental Disorders

Hypnosis holistic mental disordersI know that when we think of mental disorders, we never think there might an upside to them. And I have to say I never really thought about it until I came across this. Thanks so much to the person who posted this on pinterest! Through my years of experience doing Hypnosis, I have realized that people with Anxiety definitely have more empathy toward others and they are usually more sensitive than the rest, which are not bad qualities to have. It is nice to see more doctors asking their patients to try a holistic approach as a complementary treatment to any anti-depressants or anti-anxiety medication they may have been prescribed.

With Hypnosis people can learn how to relax physically and mentally, develop a more positive attitude towards life, increase confidence and self-esteem, while we heal past events and achieve forgiveness during the process. Hypnosis is an effective way to reduce stress and anxiety but please keep in mind that since it’s not mind control, the desire to change and cooperation of the client is needed to achieve best results. Hypnosis is safe, effective and relaxing. If you have tried everything else, why not give Hypnosis a try?

Hypnosis for Weight Loss

The summer is just around the corner so this is the perfect time to work on your weight goals and become a better version of yourself!

So how exactly can Hypnosis help someone lose weight? Most people have the idea that you need to diet to lose weight, and while this is true, the weight lost through dieting doesn’t always stay off. The effects or dieting are temporary because it’s unrealistic to think that you can diet for life (ok, unless you are Victoria Beckham who confessed she never eats a cookie or piece of cake!). Hypnosis can help change your attitude about food, eliminate emotional eating, reduce stress, improve sleep, train your mind and body how to eat moderate portions of food and feel satisfied, develop good habits like eating slowing and exercising, etc. The idea is to develop a healthy lifestyle that you maintain for life!

Who would be a good candidate for Hypnosis for weight loss? Pretty much anyone with a few exceptions: people who are overweight due to a medical problem, people who are not willing to change their lifestyle to fit healthy eating and exercise into their schedule and people looking for a quick fix.

How quickly can I lose weight with Hypnosis? There are several factors that come into play such as: age, metabolism, genes, the individual’s motivation and cooperation through the process, stress levels, environment, etc. I think how you feel throughout the process is more important than how quickly you lose the weight. My goal is to help people feel confident and really proud of themselves even if they only lose 1 or 2 pounds a week. I  want people to really enjoy eating healthy and exercise, and love their new lifestyle!

Chronic Pain and Hypnosis. The Brain connection

I recently read another great book which I hightly recommend. “The brain that changes itself”. It full of amazing stories about the Brain’s Neuroplasticity and the power of Visualization and Positive Thinking.

Hypnosis Chronic painAs we all know, pain is processed in the brain. If you change your brain, you change your pain, basically. But how do you change your brain? In the case of Chronic pain, we change the brain by changing our thoughts, our perceptions and by visualizing. This helps create new connections and change our brain maps. I am glad that finally, a psychiatrist has done research to prove not only that the brain is plastic, but also that it is POSSIBLE TO ELIMINATE PAIN even when it’s been there for years. My faith in the power of the mind has been reaffirmed with this book. I use Hypnosis to help people change their minds and I guess their brains too! I can’t wait to read the book the follows this one: The brain’s way of healing.

Improving your Brain’s Memory, Concentration and Performance. Avoid Alzheimer’s

Hypnosis Concentration, memorySo I picked up this book the other day about ways to improve one’s brain performance. Really interesting stuff, and I have to say that we all need to look into this because Alzheimer’s disease is as common as cancer, and according to recent statistics, is on the rise, just as cancer is. Ok, now the good news. We can all do something about it and we are not totally powerless if we take the necessary steps now.

I will mention briefly a few things that really got my attention and that we can all do:

 

  • Exercise at least 3-4 times a week for 30 minutes or more
  • Get enough sleep and take 20-40 minute naps (sleep makes memory consolidation happen). Use Hypnosis to relax if you have insomnia.
  • Sharpen your five senses: sight, hearing, touch, smell, taste. For example, pick up a cup of coffee or tea. Use your five senses to describe it. Pretend for a moment that you are a novelist and you want to write everything about it later.
  • Increase general memory: practice remembering 7 digit numbers, then increase gradually. Do the same with words. Check out other exercises at www.neuromod.org , www.thememorypage.net
  • When you want to memorize new information try to use as many senses as possible. Read it out load, write it down,use your index finger to write it on the palm of your hand. Put that information into an image.
  • Do activities where you have to use your hands to master a skill: playing an instrument, drawing, painting, sculping, even doing Tai chi (where you have to use your hands to move energy), knitting, crochet,etc.
  • Draw abstract images
  • Play video games (no more than 3 hours per week)
  • Keep working for as long as you can at a challenging job that fully engages your talents and abilities.
  • Establish and maintain a healthy relationships and friendships
  • Reduce stress. Do Hypnosis, meditation, visualization,etc.
  • Read, play memory games, play poker, scrabble, etc

book1There are other things which are also important from a holistic point of view. Remember that chemicals affect all our organs and the brain is no exception. I specially recommend this to people who suffer from a neurological disease or any other issues like: MS, ADD, ADHD, Autism, Fibromyalgia, Depression, Anxiety, Alzheimer’s, etc. Please check with your  Doctor, Naturopath or Holistic practitioner as this are just a general guidelines:

  • Eat organic whenever possible
  • Eliminate from your household as much chemicals as you can
  • Eliminate MSG and Aspartame Consumption
  • Eat super foods: Almonds, avocados, green tea,blueberries, celery, chia seeds, ginger, organic cocoa,walnuts, grapes
  • Eliminate all meat and dairy consumption
  • Top supplements: Alpha lipoic Acid, Coenzyme Q10, Chlorella, Cellfood, Probiotics, Acetyl L-Carnitine, 5-HTP, Magnesium, B Complex, Vitamin E
  • Herbs for the brain: Gingerroot, Oregano, Parsley, Rosemary, Sage, St. John’s wort, Turmeric, Gingseng, Ginko Biloba
  • Get plenty of Sunshine or Vitamine D if you live in the north.

Invest time in developing good habits. Pulsed Electromagnetic Frequency Therapy as an adjunct treatment to Pain

PEMF mississauga, oakvilleFor a while I have been interested in “Energy therapies”, and one of them is Pulsed Electromagnetic Frequency Therapy or PEMF. So far, there isn’t much medicine can offer to patients who suffer from chronic pain, other than drugs which have either very undesirable side effects and/or create dependency.
